Surface guide

Will it work on your wall?

Gorilla tape bonds to most outdoor surfaces. Check the guide to see where it excels — and the few places where you'd be better off drilling.

Works great Check first Drill instead
Smooth painted walls
Sand-and-cement render
Brick, stone & glass
UPVC, metal & wooden posts
Rough pebbledash
Works, but rough texture reduces contact
Freshly painted walls
Wait 2 weeks for paint to fully cure
Crumbling or flaking surfaces
Tape bonds only as well as the surface beneath

Gorilla mounting tape is included with every order. Rated for outdoor use and strong enough to hold for years.

Questions

The ones we always get

Yes. Gorilla mounting tape is rated for outdoor use — UV, rain, frost and temperature swings. Acrylic signs are light so the tape holds with significant margin. Every sign is backed by a 5-year weatherproof guarantee.
Acrylic is lighter (tape holds it easily), never rusts, and the colour goes through the material so it can't chip or peel. Slate chips, cast iron corrodes, and both weigh too much for adhesive mounting.
On smooth painted walls it usually lifts cleanly if pulled slowly at a low angle. On rough or porous surfaces some residue may remain. If renting and removal is likely, test a small patch first.
Most tenancy agreements prohibit drilling but don't restrict adhesive mounting. A house number is a functional necessity — most landlords are fine with it. A quick heads-up is always polite.
